All At Sea.
The opening of this exhibition will take place on Friday 3rd August. The show opens on Saturday 4th -Wednesday 8th from 11 - 4
The sea continues to be a significant part of our cultural imaginations. However, the sea and the coast, whilst also a significant concern in (British) modernism, have largely faded as a subject matter for the often inward-gaze of contemporary art - All At Sea re-imagines the physical and metaphorical spaces of the sea and has invited artists in any media to submit contemporary and exciting works that avoid the familiar representations of the coastal and explores the dynamics and tensions of the optical, imaginary and geographical encounters with sea.
Fun and Games is a collaboration between John Gange (Senior Lecturer in History & Theory of Art - University of the Creative Arts; Canterbury) and Caro Fenice (UCA fine art graduate and former director/curator of Alturnertive)
